The Sanizis, a wealthy merchant family part of the city’s aristocracy, gave birth to their prestigious residence between the XVII and XVIII centuries. Facing south on the Cavatella riverbank, the building presents an elegant forepart with a semicircular base.

The ashlar portal, opened on the north façade, leads to the vestibule from which a majestic staircase leads to the rooms of the noble floor. When the last member of the family died, at the time of “good governance” the palace was the seat of the Apostolic Delegate. Thanks to the Ministry of Justice, it was seat of the city court after the Unification of Italy.
